Premiere info: 2021. Performance by Hannah Limbrick and Nick Drey. Royal College of Music
(London, UK). Part of the ’’Consort 21’’ project at the RCM.
This composition is a setting of two poems by two different 16th century authors: Barnabe Googe
and George Turberville. The title, taken directly from the poetry text, plays around with the duality
and similarity of a single-line string instrument and the human voice while adapting it’s ’’unfitting’’
modern musical language to a Baroque era text about love.
